The Exhales live at Nice ‘n’ Sleazy, Glasgow | 25/11/22

Friday 25th November saw The Exhales headline a crowded Nice ‘n’ Sleazy with support from Resister and Weatherman courtesy of RCMS Presents.

Ahead of the night, The Exhales commented on the preparation involved before a headline show:

“We practiced consistently each week, so in the lead up to the show we ran through the setlist as we added in a new track ‘Born Right’ which was received very well by the crowd”.

Kicking things off was Weatherman, boasting an intriguing jazzy sound including a fiddle and saxophone amongst their backline of drums, bass and electric guitar. Their Ian Curtis-esque vocals accompanied by soft fingerpicked bass and jangly guitars made for an overall easy listening, classy sound. Weatherman ended their set with a cover of ‘One More Time’ by legendary electronic duo Daft Punk, adding a unique Weatherman-spin to the renowned dance classic.

Resister took to the stage infront of a welcoming audience, wasting no time in demonstrating their solid writing style of anchoring bass lines with technical drums and infectious melodies. For their third song of the set, a cover of Hysteria by Muse was introduced where the boys demonstrated their range, with the ability to indulge in a slightly heavier sound.

The headliners of the night showed their appreciation of the support bands and sound technician, stating:

“They are both amazing bands and brought their own sound and style to the show, Weatherman were fantastic, completely unique performance with a sax and fiddle, big build up and cool bass chord action, they definitely got people dancing. Resister tight in their performance and sounded fantastic. A huge thank you to the sound tech on the night Neil Flemming that definitely added to the atmosphere!”

“Call On Karma” was released shortly after on December 2nd, receiving a live rendition infront of the busy Sauchiehall Street venue. The four piece describe the influence behind the single being Inhaler and Catfish and the Bottlemen, lyrically exploring the premise of escaping the complexity of small town mindsets, toxic relationships and loss – ultimately calling on some good karma to change the situation.

The Exhales performance maintained an upbeat pulse throughout the show keeping the audience engaged with big choruses and consistent crowd interaction through their charismatic lead vocalist, where the band describes the night as their best performance together.

The four piece also talk of what can be expected from their next gig at Broadcast in February 2023:

“Flawless performance, and more new music. We have been writing new material, especially as a full band, we are all really excited to put it out there for people to hear.”

The Exhales play Broadcast on February 24th courtesy of This Feeling, alongside acts such as Vine, Pink Limit and The Sheratons. Tickets can be purchased through This Feeling and The Exhales’ social media accounts.
