Uncovering the explosive, emotionally charged ‘Missile’ : Fanatic Meets Sixth Wonder

Ahead of the release of their latest explosive single ‘Missile’, we caught up with Sixth Wonder to chat through the brand new tune, their upcoming Scottish live dates and more.

The two-time Scottish Alternative Music Awards winners (Best Metal 2023 and 2025) share their latest offering ‘Missile’, a tune best described as “a visceral, cinematic track that fuses djent-inspired riffs with soaring, emotionally charged atmospheres.” Backed by industry giants in the form of KERRANG! and LOUDER, Sixth Wonder continue on their critically acclaimed journey of becoming one of the UK’s most anticipated metal acts.

Comprised of Rebekah Kirk (Vocals), Nathan McDowall (Guitar), and Dylan McVey (Guitar), we had a chat with the group to pick their brains on all things ‘Missile’.

Rebekah kicks things off by mentioning their use of experimenting with loops:

“Missile was actually created when I was messing around on Apple Loops and found a synth pattern I liked. I then messed around with it and changed it to what has become the main riff from there. It started off super synthy and has remained that way, with the lovely heavy elements added by Nathan and Dylan.”

Dylan explores the inspirations behind the band’s latest track:

“We draw a lot from a bunch of different prog elements of modern metal. For the ending of the song fully lean in to the prog/ breakdown/ djent elements” – Dylan

Nathan comments on the songwriting process behind ‘Missile’, building on the previously established loops:

A lot of the instrumental was started by myself and then there was a lot of spitballing between me and Dylan for what bits need to change and go where or if stuff needs to be taken out if it’s too busy, and then we added layers/ extra synths and production from there.

Ahead of their run of Scottish shows, Rebekah comments on what audiences can expect from Sixth Wonder at a live gig:

“We are doing a Scottish tour with The Hara in March, playing Radar Festival in July and Sanctum Festival in August and you can expect a welcoming to the Sixth Wonder Cult, with new songs and performances you’re never going to forget.”
