Made available in August, the single marks the first release from the Glaswegian four-piece since ‘COMING OF AGE/ DON’T’ in 2021.
Paired with the announcement of a headline show at Glasgow’s Stereo on September 16th with support from Opium Clippers and DOSS, ‘ILL’ is anchored by means of a hard hitting bass line and eerie distorted guitar licks. Instant hints of Idles and Heavy Lungs are apparent from the raw chorus and passionate vocals.
Vocalist Kevin O’Brien states, “When we stopped playing shows, we took time to try to find our sound, find what we wanted from our own art, and this single was where our new-found vision started. We thought it was only right to let this be our first release for our fans and new listeners.”
The noise punks demonstrate a much more chaotic and intense side in comparison to their earlier tunes, whilst remaining true to their style of reflective/ observational lyrics. Putting their best foot forward with ‘ILL’, perhaps listeners can expect Nü Cros to continue with their new found relentless style of brooding pessimism.
